Upgrading Waste Activated Carbon by Equipping Micro-/Mesopore-Dominant Microstructures from the Perspective of Circular Economy
نویسندگان
چکیده
Equipping wastes with interesting properties in response to the circular economy could release environmental burdens by reducing resource exploitation and material manufacturing. In this study, we demonstrated that waste regenerated activated carbon (RAC) become micro-/mesopore-dominant through a simple surfactant/gel modification. This was achieved associating precursors, such as commercially available low-cost surfactants/methyl cellulose thickening reagents, pores of RAC. Following heat treatment, associated precursors were carbonized, hence modifying microstructure RAC be micro-/mesopore-dominant. The surfactant modification gave rise micropore-dominant increasing micropore volume (PVmicro) together significantly decreasing mesopore (PVmeso) macropore (PVmacro). contrast, gel led mesopore-rich blocking micropores carbonized methyl matrix. Interestingly, both modifications insensitive applied, which provided new alternative for waste/low-grade mixture disposal. Our results provide an important demonstration effectively upgraded rational design exhibiting economy.

Consumers’ Perspective on Circular Economy Strategy for Reducing Food Waste
The current linear system of production and consumption is unsustainable. In the food sector, despite the fact that valuable natural resources are intensively used to produce and distribute food products, little is done to upcycle residues generated along the supply chain. Circular economy strategies are crucial for restructuring the take-make-dispose model through the active participation of a...

Background: Metoprolol (MTP) with its low biodegradability is one of the most dominant micropollutant in the effluent of wastewater treatment plants. The aim of this study was to investigate the removal of metoprolol from aqueous solutions by the activated carbon prepared from pine cones. Methods: The pine cones were activated using thermal activation method. Characteristics of the adsorbent w...
